Boric oxide, one of the raw materials for glass production
Boron oxide B2O3 is one of the important components in glass. It plays a special role in glass. It is a glass-forming oxide that can form the boron-oxygen skeleton of glass alone. Its biggest feature is that it can not only improve the performance of glass, but also play a good role in fluxing.
Under different conditions, boron may exist as a triangle [BOs] (ion B+ at the center of gravity of the regular triangle formed by O2-) or a tetrahedron [BO4].
B2Os can reduce the expansion coefficient, improve the thermal and chemical stability of glass, increase the refractive index, improve the gloss of glass, and improve the mechanical properties of glass.
The raw materials for introducing boron oxide include borax and boric acid.
